Berks Counseling Center is a recovery-oriented behavioral health, physical health, and supportive services organization providing a holistic approach to a culturally and economically diverse population for the purpose of achieving a healthy and productive lifestyle.

As a Client Account Specialist, you will…

• Perform daily routine monitoring of schedules for accuracy. 
• Use the electronic health record system to finalize all batches.
• Ensure appropriate reimbursement for services is rendered. 
• Report any discrepancies to the appropriate personnel within a timely manner. 
• Work collaboratively with all applicable internal agency Staff and departments.
• Acquire all knowledge with regards to insurance & communicate with companies when applicable to acquire verification of benefits/eligibility. 
• Process monthly statements to provide client financial transparency.

Requirements

To qualify for the position, you will need to have…

• A High school diploma or GED
• Two (2) years of billing experience in the healthcare field. 
• Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week within agency hours of operation, which are 8am-8pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-4pm Friday, and Saturday hours, when applicable.
• Candidate must have excellent communication skills within all formats - verbal, phone outreaches, and e-mail etiquette.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to see well enough to read reports and use computer.
• Must be able to hear well enough to communicate to clients, vendors, and coworkers. 
• Must have mobility to move about the agency.
• Must be able to lift to 10 pounds.
• Must be able to write, type, and use technology.

Preferred candidates will …

• Be bilingual: able to speak, read, and write Spanish and English
• Have Knowledge of or experience with trauma-informed approaches preferred.

• Receipt of results of a satisfactory drug and alcohol screening test. 
• Receipt of the originals of the following background checks: PA State Police Criminal History, PA State Child Abuse, and DPW FBI Criminal History. These clearances must be valid within the 60 months prior to employment. A conviction is not a bar to employment; however, a review will be conducted to decide employment, should a conviction be present.
• Receipt of original documentation and verification of relevant degrees, diplomas, certificates, or licensure.
• Confirmation that you are not on the OIG Federal Healthcare Program Exclusion from Participation list. Should you appear on this list, Berks Counseling Center is prohibited from employing you.
