Berks Counseling Center is a recovery-oriented behavioral health, physical health, and supportive services organization providing a holistic approach to a culturally and economically diverse population for the purpose of achieving a healthy and productive lifestyle.

As the Part-Time Primary Care Provider, you will

  • Participate as an active member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. 
  • Provide medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referral, and medication monitoring services. 
  • Work collaboratively with the medical staff to ensure that comprehensive physical and medical treatment goals for each client are addressed.

  • Evaluate patients through comprehensive assessments involving observing behaviors.
  • Review medical history and related documents.
  • Select, administer, and interpret psychological tests.
  • Order laboratory tests and evaluate results.
  • Maintain interdisciplinary treatment: review treatment plans and progress; consult and collaborate with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers.
  • Assure quality and safe service for patients and staff: enforce policies, procedures, standards, rules, and legal regulations; participate in utilization reviews; remain available for emergency consultations.
  • Improve staff competence by providing training and discussions regarding the interrelationship between physical and psychosocial and physiological problems, medications, and related issues.

Requirements

To qualify for the position, you will need…

  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner licensure or Physician Assistant licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. 
  • DEA Certification.
  • At least one (1) year experience working with behavioral health populations.
  • Ability to work on site.
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week within agency hours of operation, which are 8am-8pm Mon-Thurs, and 8am-4pm Friday.

Preferred candidates will …

  • Have experience working with low income, diverse populations including persons impacted upon by mental illness and/or addictions. 
  • Have experience with the care and management of chronic health conditions.
  • Be Bilingual: English/Spanish
  • Have Knowledge of or experience with trauma-informed approaches.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to see well enough to read reports and use computer.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with clients, vendors, and coworkers.
  • Must have mobility to move about the agency. Must have mobility to move about the community. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 5 pounds.
  • Must be able to write, type and use technology.

  • Receipt of results of a satisfactory drug and alcohol screening test.

These clearances must be valid within the 60 months prior to employment. A conviction is not a bar to employment; however, a review will be conducted to make a determination of employment should a conviction be present.
  • Receipt of original documentation and verification of relevant degrees, diplomas, certificates, or licensure.
  • Confirmation that you are not on the OIG Federal Healthcare Program Exclusion from Participation list. Should you appear on this list, Berks Counseling Center is prohibited from employing you.
