Benedictine College Preparatory is Hiring a Café Manager Near Richmond, VA

Job Title: Café Manager
Reports to: Director of Facilities
FSLA Status: Non-exempt; Part-time
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.; café is closed on days when school is closed.
Position Start Date: August 7, 2023
Pay: $20/hour
Physical Requirements: Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Regularly required to lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds and frequently bend and twist from the waist.
The Benedictine Schools of Richmond seeks a Café Manager to organize daily operations of the school’s coffee shop. The Café Manager creates the tone and personality of the cafe by being an advocate of training, customer service, product knowledge and education, and encouraging safe work practices. Café Manager responsibilities include opening/closing the café, scheduling shifts for baristas, preparing and serving beverages, training the team, and completing the weekly inventory and purchasing.
Qualifications
  • Has a proven track record of being well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.
  • Solves problems independently during high volume times.
  • Communicates effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Manages others and develops team members’ leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates proficiency on a computer; is familiar with software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Point of Sale.
  • Enjoys building relationships.
  • Complies with a dress code that prohibits displaying tattoos, piercings in excess of two per ear, and unnatural hair colors.
Experience
  • Barista experience required.
  • Experience working with high school students preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Ensures and is accountable for profitability of the store by growing sales and controlling costs of goods, inventory levels, labor, supplies, and expenses.
  • Ensures proper team member coverage, scheduling according to the needs of business while maintaining target labor costs.
  • Performs all POS duties, front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintains proper loss prevention standards, reviewing cash handling procedures, which may include deposits and safe procedures.
  • Identifies staffing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training needs of qualified candidates.
  • Promotes and practices safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards. Reports all accidents to Director of Facilities.
  • Maintains high cleanliness standards consistently throughout the cafe in the areas of cafe appearance, merchandise, and equipment.
  • Coaches and counsels team members for improved performance.
  • Completes a store inventory and places a product order weekly.
  • Trains baristas on drinks preparation and proper use and care of coffee equipment.
  • Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to patrons; correctly customizes orders as requested.
  • Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values, and missions of the Benedictine Schools of Richmond.
