    Job Description
    Position: High School and/or Middle School Building Supervisor
    Reports to: Building Principal and Supervisor of Custodial Services
    Qualifications/Skills:
    • High School Diploma
    • Minimum of 3 years supervising 5 or more employees
    • 3 years experience with Computer Operated Mechanical Systems and building functions
    • 5 years experience with building cleaning processes for carpet and hard surface care, locker room and toilet room care and general building operations
    • Must possess good leadership and organizational skills
    Terms of Employment: 12-months
    Basic Function: Under the direction of the Supervisor of Custodial Services, the Building Supervisor will oversee the operations of his or her building. This will consist of the direct supervision for the operation and maintenance of all building equipment associated with heating, cooling, ventilation, electrical systems, lighting and all equipment used in the daily cleaning of the building. Also, will direct the operations consisting of the security, cleaning and general maintenance of the interior and exterior of the building and all associated areas
    Performance Responsibilities:
    • Supervises and plans the work of all other custodial employees under his/her supervision. Assists in the formulation of cleaning schedules, assigns work, arranges work loads, and can assist custodians with their assigned duties for the successful operation and cleanliness of the building.
    • Makes scheduled inspections of all custodial areas, prepares all required forms and ensures that the building and grounds are maintained in a safe condition at all times.
    • Prepares and forwards to the Supervisor of Maintenance and/or Supervisor of Grounds work orders for all installations and/or repairs that require more skilled personnel. In the event of an emergency repair, he/she will directly call the Supervisor of Maintenance and/or Supervisor of Grounds and then notify the building principal of the emergency.
    • In conjunction with the building principal, will prepare an annual evaluation of all employees under his/her supervision.
    • Maintains regular custodial work schedule (about 50%), in addition to supervisory duties (about 50%).
    • Oversees the operation and maintenance of boilers, and the entire heating, cooling and electrical equipment for the building.
    • Requisitions needed custodial supplies and keeps an accurate inventory of custodial equipment and supplies needed to complete the daily work for the building.
    • Keeps all custodial equipment in a good safe working condition, and provides careful supervision and protection of all district real and personal property.
    • Protects the district against liabilities. Instructs and trains all employees under his/her supervision in safe work practices, Board of Education policies, and administrative rules concerning the department.
    • Checks his/her assigned building daily, and at least once on Saturday, Sunday and holidays for proper operation of all building systems (heating, cooling, domestic hot/cold water, security and electrical), and to check for any vandalism (overtime will not be paid).
    • Reviews the accuracy of all time sheets and request for leave forms of his/her assigned employees, in preparation for the final review by the Supervisor of Custodial Services.
    • Must be familiar with and adhere to the Belvidere Education Support Staff Association and District #100 negotiated contract agreement document.
    • Must be capable of supporting and/or lifting up to 100 pounds.
    • May be required to work off shift hours based on his/her building needs (emergency calls, ADT calls, and building use functions). A certain number of hours are calculated into the supervisor’s yearly salary.
    • Meets regularly with the building principal and athletic director to discuss the needs for the building.
    • Performs other duties as may be assigned.
    Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on educational support personnel.
