Bell Lumber & Pole is Hiring a Benefits Specialist Near Brighton, MN

BenefitsWe are seeking an on-site or hybrid employee Benefits Specialist to join our friendly and experienced Human Resources team. This role will be responsible for benefit administration tasks and employee leaves of absence as well as assisting with internal audits, employee documentation, and policies. This role will work alongside skilled and knowledgeable teammates with many years of experience managing benefits, compensation, and leaves of absence. Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Initiating, tracking and completing benefit enrollment, changes and terminations
  • Communicating with managers and employees across all areas of the organization to administer and manage employee leaves of absence (including FMLA, STD, Worker's Compensation, and other miscellaneous leaves)
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records and HR files (both physical and electronic), coordinating with Payroll when necessary
  • Assisting with audits to monitor and enforce compliance
  • Performing tasks related to invoice tracking and reconciliation as well as MVR and company vehicles
  • Helping develop, maintain and administer policy and benefit training (guides, training videos, info sessions, etc.)
  • Participating in HR projects and initiatives, such as performance appraisal processes, diversity, and inclusion programs, and HRIS system implementations
  • Ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations; EEOC, ADA, FMLA, and other employment and labor laws, including preparing and submitting reports as required by regulatory agencies
  • Managing the HR email inbox by answering emails on a timely basis and communicating with other team members as needed
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with HR-related vendors and third-party service providers
  • Staying updated on HR best practices, industry trends, and changes in employment laws
  • Other duties as assigned
Job QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience: 2 years of experience in HR coordination or administration, specifically in the area of employee benefits. Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with Windows operation required.
  • Experience in ADP or similar HR program.

Work Environment/Physical DemandsTo perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to use the computer for extended periods of time in a sitting or standing position. Ability to work under time constraints and ability to work in a face paced work environment. When visiting a plant, the employee will need to be able to be on their feet for an extended period. Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving products, minimum of 25 lbs. Exposure to varying types of climates. Outside environment can be dusty & noisy. Equipment & treated lumber may emit fumes. Moderate travel required.
