BCBSM Career Section is Hiring a Business Analyst II-Provider Systems Near Detroit, MI

IT Provider Systems is looking for a dynamic Business Analyst II to join our fast-paced, growing team. Our department focuses on delivering quality technical solutions to enhance and maintain provider capabilities. We work as partners with our internal/external stakeholders on their strategic business initiatives. This Business Analyst II position will solicit, identify, capture, and communicate business needs and translate business requirements into technical system and functional specifications.

Additional aspects/functions of the role may include:

  • Serve as a liaison between the business area and the IT organization to provide technical solutions required for the achievement of business goals.
  • Support one or more moderately complex business processes, requiring design or integration of technical solutions for business value.
  • Research, analyze and communicate existing system processes to ease understanding for all parties.
  • Document business processes and business requirements in alignment with organizational strategies. 
  • Assist with special projects, programs, and initiatives to ensure successful delivery of business outcomes.
  • Perform simple data mining by querying databases to aid in research.
  • Develop comprehensive requirement documentation supporting Solution Design standards.
  • Facilitate Agile/Iterative processes including documenting capabilities, epics, story cards, and acceptance criteria.
  • Serve as Scrum Master when needed for prime or secondary projects, facilitating all sprints and ceremonies.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to ensure customer satisfaction. 

Departmental Preferences:

  • Strong Analysis and Problem-solving skills
  • Experience in facilitating Agile/Iterative Ceremonies 
  • Experience in creating project documentation following Solution Design standards (e.g. BRD/ASD, Use Case Specs, Use Case Views, RTM, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate project dependencies across the enterprise
  • Ability to work independently, or within a team environment
  • JIRA knowledge and experience preferred
  • ScrumMaster certification preferred
  • Experience with SQL and Oracle preferred
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Serve as a liaison between the business areas and the IT organization to provide technical solutions required for the achievement of business goals. Collect, analyze, develop, document, and communicate business requirement. Support several moderately complex business processes within one or more business functions.

Conduct data gathering and analysis to understand business strategy requirements. Provide direction for short and long-term planning sessions and provide direction to ensure understanding of business goals and direction. Provide input from a business and IT perspective.
Assess client needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to assist in identifying business priorities and advice on options.
Develop, write, and communicate business requirements and functional specifications for the implementation of business solutions. 
Analyze customer’s operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities for improvements.
Assist in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology. Provide factual content to feasibility study for standard development projects and enhancements and assistance in business case development (i.e., research, data collection), as needed. Develop user test cases and system integration testing and validate test results during testing. Review and approve test plans and monitor testing process to ensure that business results are adequately tested with minimal risk, as needed.
Investigate, resolve and escalate problems. Procure technical assistance to help in problem resolution.
Keep customers informed of problems, issues, and status. Analyze performance metrics to ensure customer satisfaction. Manage customers’ expectation.
Coach and transfer knowledge to less experienced team members.
Other duties may be assigned.

"Qualifications"

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Three (3) year of relevant technical or business work experience required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Basic knowledge of business operations and systems requirement processes.
  • Demonstrated technical, analytical, systems skills.
  • Display innovation in identifying, proposing, and overseeing the execution of business solutions.
  • Written and verbal communication skills interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, or within a team environment.
  • Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
