GENERAL SUMMARY:
Summary:
The Perioperative Business Manager develops a team /department approach around Perioperative Business Operations which performs the work to support the care providers within the Perioperative Division by performing administrative and clinical support function to drive effective and reliable change within the organization. The Perioperative Business Manager will support and develop clinical services, strategic goals, and objectives with the Sr. Director of Perioperative Services. Goals include but are not limited to increasing patient surgical volumes and improved access to care.
The Perioperative Business Manager collaborate with clinical directors and medical directors to jointly manage the operational and capital budgets. The Perioperative Business Manager supports the Sr Director of Perioperative Services and senior leadership in the identification of new services and development of business plans including cost/benefit analysis for capital expenditures. The position participates in market research and marketing of services. This position covers all areas in Perioperative services at multiple campuses; operating room, Anesthesia, PACU, Day Surgery, PAT, Endoscopy, and a Surgical Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Reviews monthly financial reports for accuracy, productivity reports and develops justifications for deviation.
2. Responsible for oversight and submission of daily patient charges.
3. Assists with capital planning and strategic projects, 3-year asset /Capital planning (rolling plan)
4. Reviews and reports on Data/Analytics (operational and Financial) including financial health and planning for the service lines, managing financial support of new initiatives, ROI development and management, maintaining dashboards and Analysis-SSEC, KPI, FCOTS, Turnover time, block and OR utilization, block schedule and requests. Reports on cost per case analysis and standardization.
5. Analysis of Press Ganey patient satisfaction scores/data for perioperative services. Identifies and recommends areas of improvement for perioperative service lines.
6. Asset and instrument procurement procured from other departments and external sources. Project support for growth and access to care.
7. Maintains asset management and inventory control processes, including capital tracking, for perioperative services. Recommend new technology and supply for service line use.
8. Assists with Business Plan development for new projects.
9. Ensures regulatory compliance.
10. Provides oversight of all contracts, purchase services, , maintenance contracts and repair programs, including, but not limited to: perfusion contracts, IOM Contracts, service agreements, Anesthesia Service Contracts.
11. Assists with physician onboarding and resource needs.
12. Participates in policy/procedure development related to OR support service areas of responsibility.
13. Collaborates closely with IT department and Periop Director to assist with implementation of new technology and information systems.
14. Partners with Resource Management/ Supply Chain and Periop Operations to complete Inventory Valuation and Turnover rate/analysis, preference card Maintenance, supply implant waste analysis. Implements a standard process for purchase of new products., Implant analysis and cost containment/capitalization of costs
15. Partners with Revenue Cycle to address issues pertaining to billing audits, quality defect rates, revenue integrity/maximization, incomplete documentation rate/error rate charge capture validation.
16. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three (3) years of previous experience in Perioperative / Surgical Services. Business Manager or equivalent experience in progressive hospital management role.
Preferred: Five (5) years of previous experience in Perioperative / Surgical Services
