House Manager

Bayberry Inc. provides care and supervision to clients with developmental disabilities who reside in licensed community care facilities. Bayberry, Inc. manages two Intermediate Care Facilities licensed by the Department of Health Services. The House Manager is responsible to provide care and supervision to clients residing in the licensed Intermediate Care Facilities. The House Manager supervises Direct Support Professionals and House Assistants, and may also assume additional responsibilities to assist the Administrator. The House Manager is also responsible to perform the same duties as Direct Support Professionals to ensure the health and safety of each resident and that staffing requirements are met. Please refer to the job description for Direct Support Professionals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Dispenses, accounts for and manages petty cash for both houses on a weekly basis, as directed by the Administrator. Reviews petty cash and receipts with Administrator/Bookkeeper on a weekly basis prior to submission to Bookkeeper.
  • Coordinate activities and assist all staff to ensure active treatment and household chores are completed.
  • Meets with staff and plans daily activities.
  • Assists with on call needs for home and day program needs, as scheduled between managers and the Administrator.
  • Ensures that medications are ordered and logged.
  • Ensures that the food supply is adequate pursuant to regulation.
  • Ensures supplies on hand are adequate to meet needs, including disaster preparedness.
  • Train staff in all aspects of consumer care and job duties.
  • Ensures that staff in-service log is updated monthly.
  • Assist with communication with families, day programs and CPCs as directed by the Administrator and QMRP.
  • Attends day program meetings quarterly and title 17 reviews as requested by Case Manager.
  • Attends Human Rights Committee meetings
  • Assists with annual licensing surveys, investigations, fire inspections and HUD reviews.
  • Complete and post weekly menu per dietician.
  • Assists with pre-placement visits with perspective clientele.
  • Learn progressive discipline process, participating as directed by Administrator.
  • Learn and implement case management tools as directed by Administrator and QMRP.
  • Manage mail at the facility assigned.
  • Assists QMRP and Administrator with other duties assigned.

Support Team Responsibilities:

  • Participate in planning team process with client, sharing essential information to assist with planning team decisions.
  • Inform Administrator/QMRP of any information that needs to be passed on to the family members, professional support staff and to outside agencies. 
  • Implement Individual Service Plan (ISP) and Individual Program Plan (IPP).
  • Track all client data.
  • Participate in additional meetings regarding client as needed.

Reporting Responsibilities

  • Report special incidents to the Administrator/QMRP as soon as they occur, determine reportability, and assist with reporting as directed.
  • Notify supervisor of any changes in client health or activity.
  • Notify supervisor, RN consultant, and conservator or parent of all medication changes per physician order.
  • Maintain consistent documentation by documenting daily activity in client file, and regularly confirm that staff are documenting appropriately.
  • Provide additional documentation as directed by supervisor

Bayberry Employee Responsibilities:

  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, co-workers, clients, their families.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with clients, their families, all Bayberry staff.
  • Attend required Bayberry meetings.
  • Represent Bayberry in a professional manner at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Be able to handle crisis situations effectively, and according to protocol.
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Be able to follow-up on directives from supervisor.
  • Be dependable, arriving to work on time.
  • Be able to read, write, and comprehend English.
  • Treats consumers and staff with respect and a positive regard.
  • Maintains professional conduct at all times

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • AA Degree plus three years of experience working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities or
  • Have at least five years of experience working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Have independent and reliable transportation, along with a valid driver’s license, insurance, and clear DMV record
  • Must obtain or provide all necessary clearances to begin work, including:
    • Appropriate fingerprint clearance.
    • TB test with negative results (or Doctor’s exam for TB positive result)
  • Have ability to be reached by telephone reliably.
