Job description: Certified Medical Assistant/ Scribe

JOB SUMMARY: Perform routine clinical and administrative duties under the direct supervision of the physician for a growing Vascular Surgeon in Corpus Christi.

The role of the Medical Scribe for our client is to assist the physician in the completion of patient care data in the EMR system. The Medical Scribe (MS) shadows the MD throughout the patient clinic visit and assists in data collection and entry. The MS may enter verbal orders for patient care, transcribe dictation of physician observations, and create the final MD visit note for physician review and electronic approval / signature. The MS works collaboratively with the MD, and additional clinic Medical Assistant to communicate patient care orders resulting from the clinic visit. The MS functions as a guide to direct the MD to the appropriate areas within the patient medical record for medication orders and review of all documents relating to patient care. The position requires competency in computer systems, medical terminology, data entry, and strong interpersonal communication abilities.

A Medical Assistant, under the direction of the physician, is to assist in the examination and treatment of patients. Interview the patient and measure vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height, and record information into the chart. The required information is not limited to that listed above, but chart requirements are dictated by the required fields in the software charting function. Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments and equipment.

Other Job Description/Duties as assigned:

· Fax all prescriptions, progress notes, imaging and/or lab orders before the end of day. Also fax out-going referrals for patients seen that day.

· Call patients with medical results.

· Proper charting (chart prep) including updating all required chart fields during patient appointments.

· Clean exam rooms and ensure they are properly stocked with supplies.

· Before end of day, all out-going referrals and appointments completed for patients seen that day.

· Scan Medical Correspondence for that day.

· Answer phones and schedule patients as needed. Send appropriate messages to staff within the EHR system.

· Other duties as assigned by management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
