Reporting to the Director of Experiential Learning and Workforce Engagement within the Sullivan Career and Life Planning Center (SCLP), the Workforce and Outcome Analyst helps develop and execute a research agenda for workforce analysis to promote students' persistence on their career-academic journey, career preparedness, and social capital development. The Analyst gathers and analyzes data from a variety of sources and shares and helps make sense of findings with a broad set of internal and external constituencies to drive continuous improvement to academic programming, non-credit learning, and career development experiences and services. The incumbent researches emerging industry trends, barriers to workforce participation, and learners' career outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Executes a research agenda aimed at analyzing the regional workforce, with an emphasis on identifying emerging industries and in-demand jobs and skills and barriers to workforce participation.
  • Gathers data streams relating to the regional economy, industry, labor market, workforce participation and demographics.
  • Conducts quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research and analysis designs.
  • Conducts background research to inform project design.
  • Produces research briefs, visualizations, and other insights to inform internal and external constituencies in developing career and workforce development programs and services, marketing campaigns, credit and non-credit learning products, employer partnerships, and alumni engagement.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Partnership Development to match workforce insights to development of non-credit learning opportunities and with academics to inform program design and redesign efforts.
  • Develops relationships with external organizations - regional workforce boards, Springfield WORKS, e.g. - who have a mission to study and impact the regional labor market.
  • Recommends and executes strategies to secure and share alumni career outcomes data in coordination with Alumni Relations staff.
  • Executes analysis of the alignment of learners' academic programs of study and their career outcomes.
  • Produces longitudinal analyses of learners' career journeys.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or industry certification in economics, data analysis, data science statistics, mathematics, psychometrics, public policy, or a related field that incorporates research design preferred.
  • Skills in quantitative and qualitative research design, data analysis, and softwares.
  • Skills in identifying trends within data.
  • Skills in gathering, storing, and relating large volumes of data from a variety of sources, including federal, state, local, and proprietary databases and websites.
  • Skills in developing survey instruments and other data collection tools.
  • Skills in turning data into stories, visualizations, reports, and other forms of insights.
  • Knowledge of, and skills in accessing and using, skills taxonomies and credential registries.
  • Knowledge of Standard Occupational Classification (SOC), Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP), and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) and skills in relating these classification systems.
  • Knowledge of, and skills in, infusing diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice concepts in everyday practice.
  • Abilities and skills in self-organization, proactive initiative, attention to detail, interpersonal relationships.
  • Skills in productivity software and technical writing.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion and in alignment with FERPA regulations.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to engage in innovation and to adjust to and effectively manage change.
  • Ability and skills to work independently and collaboratively to creatively solve problems.
