Baltimore County is Hiring a Victim Witness Director Non-Merit Near Towson, MD

Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week 

A non-merit vacancy exists in the State's Attorney Office for Baltimore County with full County benefits, which includes affordable healthcare, paid sick and vacation days and paid holidays.

This position is a supervisory position that oversees the Victim Witness Unit of the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office. The ideal candidate should be able to interact professionally with attorneys, victims and witnesses, have the ability to multitask, have exceptional organizational skills, a positive attitude, be able to work independently, demonstrate enthusiasm to learn new ideas and concepts, and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Candidate must be able to oversee the daily work of the legal secretaries and paralegals in the Unit, be able to identify issues and come up with solutions to remedy the issues, make sure the Unit is running smoothly and efficiently and create new procedures as workflow changes. Will be responsible for approving leave for legal secretaries and paralegals in the Unit and conducting their annual Performance Evaluations. This position is also responsible to quarterly grant reports and annual renewal of the grant.
Essential Job Duties
  • Uses the in-house electronic Case Management System.
  • Uses Workday.
  • Assigns cases to Paralegals.
  • Accompanies Victims to court.
  • Understands the criminal court process.
  • Provides resources to Victims and Witness.
  • Oversees legal secretaries and paralegals in the unit.
  • Makes sure that others are performing as required and work is being completed in a timely manner.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
 
OR
 Graduation from an accredited college or university with an A.A. degree plus at least two years' experience as a victim advocate or paralegal.

Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Proof of licenses, certifications, and/or education must be submitted with each application.
Proof of Degree Equivalency

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants meeting required qualifications may be assessed for typing speed and proficiency in: computer file management, Windows introductory skills, and Microsoft Word.Employees hired after July 1, 2022 are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees’ Retirement System, with very limited exceptions.The work of this position is primarily sedentary, with occasional bending and light lifting to perform tasks associated with office work.
