Report to employee injuries and conduct a full investigation of alleged injury, including providing proper paperwork, offering medical attention, and assisting in providing an immediate remedy to any unsafe conditions.
Work with WC Analysis Manager to determine if a claim is reportable and report it, if needed.
Stay in communication with non-litigated employees to address any concerns or questions they may have. Provide information to Claims Adjuster as needed.
Process leave of absence & accommodation requests in accordance with FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA and other applicable laws & guidelines. Monitor applicable leave of absence/accommodation requests with the employee on a monthly basis via telephone and written correspondences.
Process doctor notes by inputting information into the HRIS system and communicating applicable information between Department Managers, Employee, and Claims Adjuster.
Conducts the interactive process with the employee and work with the department to bring employee back on modified duty on a temporary or permanent basis.
Process terminations
Prepares cover letters and notifications that are coherent, informative and legally sound. Provides counseling and assistance to employees and management in employee or management issues guided by the company's policies and labor law regulations especially those related to employee relations, attendance, and leaves of absences.
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Commerce Casino Workers' Compensation claim records in the HRIS and all other systems
Understands workers' compensation laws and regulations, concludes appropriate courses of action, and submits proposed solution to upper management.
Attends WC claim hearings when potentially helpful to the outcome, or as required
Monitors the performance of the third party administrators and clinic services to help ensure the timeliness and thoroughness of the process
Provides back-up coverage for other Human Resources team members as needed
Provides coverage to the front desk as assigned which includes greeting and assisting walk-ins and answering incoming calls
Assists with other duties and projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS Work Experience Required:
Combination of work experience and education will be considered. Two years or more experience working in a Human Resources function preferred; solid generalist and worker's compensation experience desired.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Other Requirements:
Willingness to work non-traditional business hours
Excellent communication, engagement, and diplomacy skills in dealing with employees at all levels of the organization
Capable of exercising discretion and independent judgment
Ability to independently manage multiple projects and priorities
Work effectively in a team environment with all staff levels of the organization
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel
Bilingual language skills preferred
