Baldwin Supply Co. is a growing manufacturer and leading distributor of mechanical power transmission, conveyor belts, electric motors, and control products with offices in five states. At Baldwin Supply Co. the HR team is focused on employee engagement, culture and values. We’re searching for an experienced Human Resources Generalist for our two-person HR department in our brand-new beautiful Plymouth, MN Headquarters ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Director of Human Resources, and will have administrative and strategic responsibilities. In this role you will:

  • Support the Director of Human Resources in developing and executing Human Resources procedures and policies, and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations
  • Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements
  • Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs
  • Suggest new procedures and policies for improving employee experience as well as the efficiency of HR department and company.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary.

Responsibilities:

  •  Manage onboarding, new-hire orientations and schedules for smooth new-hire onboarding process, coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional first-day experience.
  • Primary responsibility of data in HRIS, ADP specifically, including trouble shooting, modifying, auditing for accuracy and compliance. 
  • Provide dedicated and effective support to employees as an HR business partner to employees covering leave of absences, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, benefit and pay questions, and supporting employee-relations matters.
  • Be the primary backup for payroll processing, including biweekly and semimonthly updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, and PTO.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to policy development.
  • Initiate and support workers compensation, safety programs, policies and communications including safety meetings, training, and return to work management.
  • Support of talent acquisition, as needed.
  • Support of company sponsored events.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business, or related field.
  • Five plus years of demonstrated success as an HR Generalist in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.
  • Experience using ADP HRIS and payroll modules.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS and aptitude to learn new technical systems.
  • Knowledge of national and local laws and regulations related to employment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict management abilities.
  • Resourceful mindset and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies.
  • Ability to work a full-time, in-office role.

Preferred skills and qualifications:

  • HR Certification is a plus.
