Balboa Bay Resort is seeking a Director of Leisure and Business Travel Sales

to lead our business and leisure travel segment. This person will have previous experience in catering to affluent clientele and will be a dynamic service-oriented professional. As Director of Leisure and Business Travel Sales, the primary goal will be to develop, cultivate and maintain the resort’s transient segment, which will include corporate business travel, luxury travel agencies, wholesalers and 3^rd party travel management companies. In this role, this person will sell the resort in a “storytelling” style of communication and will be tasked to develop a lasting rapport with local and international clients through community associations, travel trade shows and hospitality networking organizations.

Daily Duties:

• Develop and implement strategies and action plans for the Business Travel & Leisure segments.
• Manage consortia, GDS and RFP positioning through various platforms.
• Analyze business opportunities with a focus on shifting market share from competitive set hotels.
• Frequent outside sales calls and entertainment with key accounts, prospective accounts and travel agencies.
• Ability to clearly and effectively present the resort and its amenities in captivating style of communication.
• Ability to travel to conventions, roadshows, tradeshows and client showcases throughout the year.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

• 2 to 5 years of direct hotel sales experience within the luxury segment preferred.
• Advance knowledge of Hoteligence 360, Lanyon RFP and the various GDS systems.
• Previous relationships with luxury travel agencies, including Virtuoso, Signature Travel Network and American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts programs.
• Advance knowledge or existing relationships with FIT/Wholesale partners.
• Luxury Market knowledge: Ex: market trends, competitor behavior, an awareness of what high-end customers seek in a luxury experience.
• Well versed in Sales, Negotiation and Strategy development.
• Strong customer service skills that are “client-centric”, courteous, warm and professional.
• Must possess excellent communications skills and effectively interact with all levels of employees, guests and vendors.
• Proven ability to work independently, as well as a part of a team.
• Well organized with attention to detail, outgoing, team-oriented and creative.
• Ability to work under pressure; must be able to multi-task and possess excellent follow-up skills.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
• Delphi FDC experience preferred.
