Bakersfield City School District is Hiring a Head custodian Near Bakersfield, CA

JOB GOAL : To provide students and staff with safe, attractive, comfortable and clean educational environment

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develops, in conjunction with supervisor, schedules and coordinates workloads for district custodial cleaning crews
  • Provides supervision for district custodial staff
  • Monitors, demonstrates and supports safe working practices and safety programs
  • Monitors health and sanitation conditions at school sites in accordance with State, County, City and District policies, procedures, and regulations to provide a safe, clean, and orderly learning and working environment
  • Works cooperatively with custodial supervisor in evaluating and making recommendations for custodial programs, equipment and supplies
  • Assists in determining appropriate time and materials to assure completion of work
  • Assists with inventory planning and control; may be assigned to order supplies and equipment
  • Maintains related records and prepares reports as required
  • Monitors custodial crews to ensure district cleaning standards are met, inspects crew work for accuracy and compliance with established standards
  • Assigns trained personnel in absence of district custodial staff
  • Makes minor non-technical repairs and adjustments to equipment
  • Assists in maintaining security of district property; responds to emergency calls, secures sites and notifies offices and agencies as needed
  • Reports safety hazards and repair needs to appropriate personnel
  • May work variety of schedules as needed, including evenings, swing shifts, split shifts, days or weekends
  • Assumes duties of custodial team leader, team or site custodian as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District's "Improvement of Professional Services" handbook;

Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable.

NEW PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION :

A new employee, or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification, shall serve a probationary period, which shall not exceed one (1) year of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences.

During this probationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanent status in the classification.

A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationary classification at any time without cause, without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education.

Pursuant to Education Code section , a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationary period for that promotional position, shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.
