Baker Industries, a Lincoln Electric Company is Hiring a Quality Inspector - Laser Tracker Near Macomb, MI

The Laser Tracker Inspector / Operator proficiently and independently performs quality control inspections using a FARO or API laser tracker or a FARO Arm in a heavy manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct laser tracker or faro arm inspections to measure a variety of parts, machines, tooling, and structures
  • Produce easily understood, visually appealing inspection reports that include written descriptions, 3D pictures, and data tables
  • Write or edit programs for precision machinery
  • Determine program requirements based on design and engineering specifications
  • Operate precision machinery as needed
  • Maintain work areas and equipment in clean and orderly conditions, following prescribed safety regulations inside and outside plants
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Maintain continuity between coworkers and/or shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Document actions by completing production timesheets
  • Accomplish organizational and group goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Additional duties as assigned

SCHEDULE

  • Monday to Saturday
  • 10-hour shifts Monday - Friday, 6-hour shift Saturday
  • Overtime available
  • Day shift, night shift, and overnight shift available
  • Double-time Sunday

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years of experience conducting inspections with a FARO or API laser tracker or FARO Arm
  • Previous experience with VeriSurf, Polyworks, or equivalent inspection software strongly preferred
  • Understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Office products, CATIA, ENOVIA, and GD&T required
  • Ability to pass a drug test, with little or no notice, in compliance with the law
  • Ability to pass a background check in compliance with the law

  • Critical thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Coordination: adjusting actions as a response to the actions of others
  • Judgment and decision making: Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
