Babcock Ranch, America’s first solar powered town seeks an experienced Director – Earthworks to facilitates the preparation of site development plans, roadways and lot development projects for Commercial, Residential, and Municipal Land Development, with an emphasis on storm water management; hydrology and hydraulics; drainage design; access road layout; horizontal and vertical roadway design; transportation and component delivery path layout; fencing and erosion control; grading design; and civil support during construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees preparation of conceptual engineering drawings for design of stormwater management and stormwater conveyance systems.
  • Oversees grading design and earthwork analysis.
  • Provides soil erosion and sediment control design recommendations.
  • Prepares construction cost estimates, final construction budgets, and monthly cost to complete reports, ensuring projects remain with the approved budgets.
  • Plans, defines and manages project tasks, schedule, and delivers on-time execution of civil scope of work and project deliverables.
  • Reviews hydrology and hydraulics studies, drainage design with erosion control, and horizontal and vertical roadway design.
  • Prepares and implements accurate construction schedules.
  • Ensure contractors work is within compliance with contractual agreements, (construction scope, schedule, workmanship, and budget.)
  • Additional duties as required.

Skills and Abilities:

High degree of knowledge of Civil design, development, and construction practices related to earthwork, water, utilities, and pavement.

Strong skills for interpretation of site survey and topographic surveys into drawings and definition of needs for drainage and culverts

Experience in evaluation of road alignment/path, earthworks (cut/fill) and other applicable solutions for road design, quantity and cost evaluation and quantity balance.

Experience in flooding analysis and in drainage and culverts sizing.

Valid Driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Educations and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management.

6 years of relevant experience in land development, construction, transportation and road design, estimating, or related field.

Licensed Engineer or Licensed General Contractor preferred.

High degree of knowledge of Civil design, development, and construction practices related to earthwork, water, utilities, and pavement.

Intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
