The Financial Reporting Manager is essential to the smooth and timely completion of financial and regulatory reporting and related activities for all AXIS legal entities in the US. This role will have direct interactions with, and oversight of, the work completed by the finance teams in the US and India, as well as interface with other teams in respective AXIS business units across the globe. This role will also be responsible to assist in the review, analysis and improvements of the financial reporting processes. The key to success for this role will be the management and delivery of quality services in the allotted timelines and drive process improvements that deliver productivity and customer benefits. The ideal candidate must be an experienced and knowledgeable CPA with general industry knowledge. Statutory accounting principles (Property & Casualty Yellowbook) knowledge and experience in (re)insurance industry is a plus. Key Duties & Responsibilities Support the Assistant Controller with the review and/or production of annual and quarterly regulatory reports (Property & Casualty Yellowbook) for four US legal entities Ownership of loss reporting process, annual Schedule P and supporting schedules Coordinate with actuarial team to ensure accurate claim loss and loss reserves reporting Utilize Blackline, a process management tool, to manage offshore team deliverables, provide feedback and monitor compliance with review checklists, which feed into service level reporting metrics Manage and provide guidance in relation to existing or upcoming work performed by offshore team in India Review schedules prepared by offshore team and balance sheet reconciliations Prepare/review legal entity controller reports, and prepare quarterly and annual statutory analysis Respond to audit queries (internal audit and external audit) Assist in monitoring and enforcing internal controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal fiscal reporting and regulatory requirements and ensure any internal and external reporting developments are communicated to onshore and offshore teams and implemented effectively Keep current with newly released or updated FASB standards, SSAP standards, NAIC regulations, and other accounting guidelines applicable to state jurisdictions Research and draft technical accounting memos, as needed Other corporate accounting and reporting responsibilities as needed Required Education/Training & Experience CPA with minimum five (5) years mix of public/private accounting experience, including at least 2 years in Financial Reporting Strong understanding of US GAAP Understanding of SOX compliance requirements Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance business and technical accounting desirable General understanding of statutory reporting in U.S. Experience in the delivery of process improvements through redesign, automation and documentation in the Finance space Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIF), Word and PowerPoint; Outlook Experience with financial systems (Oracle, Hyperion), and business intelligence software a plus Other Desired Skills & Characteristics Takes accountability for delivering on personal goals and assigned tasks Ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary dynamic team environment, partner with and build relationships with other departments and stakeholders Capable of working under pressure, making independent decisions and solving problems collaboratively Team player, open to diversity, with the ability to manage and motivate global teams with effective delegation power Critical thinking, detail oriented while maintaining broad business perspectives Concise and professional written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills required Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours during reporting peaks as necessary to meet deadlines
