JOB TITLE: Maintenance Tech
DEPARTMENT: Facilities
TIME EXPECTATION: 40 HR/Week
REPORTS TO: Jeremy Agasi

OVERVIEW
The Maintenance Technician role is a vital part of the daily operations of the Facilities department. The
Maintenance Technician must be able to adapt to and work effectively with a variety of situations. This person must
be patient, self-starting, team oriented, outgoing, organized, and have a heart for people. The Lead Maintenance
Technician is primarily responsible for implementing and carrying out the preventive and routine maintenance
tasks for the church and school to prolong and ensure appropriate operation of equipment and systems; identifying
repair/replacement needs necessary to maintain equipment and systems; observing and providing necessary
information on the proper uses of the equipment; and ensuring adequate materials are available to complete
assignments in a timely manner.
General hours are 40 hours over 5 days weekly, some holidays and all weekends. Days and times will vary in
relation to job duties and assignments.
PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned
  • Schedule and complete the “Preventive Maintenance Program” for each facility or area assigned
  • Monitor and maintain all building systems as assigned (i.e., chillers, thermostats, furnaces, AC
units, etc.)
  • Coordinate special projects as assigned by Facility & Property Manager
  • Paint interior and exterior walls as assigned by Facility & Property Manager
  • Replace washers, faucets and seals, drains and other malfunctioning plumbing equipment,
within limits of non-licensed services, to repair leaky faucets and/or plumbing fixtures
  • Install light bulbs, ballast, sink faucets, doors, cabinets, patch sheet rock, bulletin boards, door
grills, water filters, air filters and other items as assigned by Facility & Property Manager
  • Carry cell phone & radio as required for on call maintenance and communication with school,
church and Facility & Property Manger
  • Complete grounds work as directed by Facility & Property Manager, which may include picking
up trash, sweeping sidewalks, spreading sand/ice melt, spraying for weeds, etc.
  • Responsible for alerting supervisor, occupants, and managers of any unusual occurrence and/or
safety issues that have taken place or are occurring
  • Maintain a professional and courteous manner with all students, parents, staff, onsite visitors,
contractors, vendors, and fellow employees
  • Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, city, State, and Federal
guidelines
  • Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring
availability of required items
  • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety & maintenance
concerns
  • Ensure compliance of all work-related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner
  • Follow established church and school policies and standards
  • Maintain inventory controls for cost-effective operations
  • Complete all special projects and other responsibilities as determined and/or assigned by
supervisor
  • Assist other trades personnel and sub-contractors as may be required for the purpose of
supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Other duties as assigned

or complaining to staff, volunteers, and church members

  • Must maintain a positive, upbeat, self-starting, solution oriented
  • Must be adept at problem solving and troubleshooting, with a spirit of excellence and calmness

  • Ability to manage time and prioritize accordingly
  • The nature of this position requires the employee to work a highly flexible schedule comprised
of day, evening, and weekend hours
  • Attend weekly department meetings
  • Operate effectively in order to meet established objectives
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the ministry and systems used to assist with the attainment of
tasks, objectives, and goals
  • Exemplify the love of Christ, showing mutual respect, dignity, and integrity by setting a positive
example at all times
  • Always be willing to share ideas and discuss concerns within the ministry in order to resolve any
conflicts that may occur
  • Communicate effectively using both verbal and written methods with individuals or groups
  • Set a positive example as an Awaken staff member inside and outside of work area
  • Assist in all other areas as directed by church administration and/or Senior Pastor
  • General computer knowledge a must. Should be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher,
and Outlook
  • Other duties as assigned
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMTED TO:
  • Must be a born again Christian and living a life that demonstrates a commitment to the word of God and
committed to serving and supporting the vision and mission of Awaken Las Vegas
  • Must regularly attend and participate in services at Awaken Las Vegas
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in managing people and/or projects with high-quality relational outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to listen, discern, and facilitate discussions, "see the big picture", and build
consensus
  • Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of relevant software and databases
  • Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
  • Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
  • Experience with electrical installation, maintenance, and repair
  • Experience with plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair
  • Experience with AC installation, maintenance, and repair
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
FLSA Information
This is a non-exempt position and typically works a standard day-shift schedule Monday – Friday.
Occasional extended hours and/or days are possible as business needs require.
Travel Statement
Travel to work sites and/or meetings will be required, including potential overnight stays.
Work Location
As a church support position, the work location is in the office located in Las Vegas, NV.
