- Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a minimum of four years of experience in building and grounds maintenance work or three years experiences as a journeyman in a specific technical trade.
- Must possess considerable knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities.
- Must be able to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Must have sound human relations and managerial skills.
- Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Must possess Arizona State Herbicide Application Certification and license, as required.
- Must possess an ability to push, pull, or lift weights of up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess an ability to climb ladders and work in tight spaces, i.e., trenches, attics, equipment rooms, etc.
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair and maintenance of facilities.
- Assists in the training of lower level employees performing the duties of repair and maintenance of school facilities
- Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections and maintenance activity.
- Responds to complaints from school personnel regarding plumbing problems, damage to buildings and grounds, and other facility problems; explains findings to Supervisor.
- Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
- Drives trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, gravel, and sand.
- Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to Supervisor.
- Operates light and medium sized construction and power equipment.
- Performs required labor involved in renovation, repair, and construction projects.
- Ensures all codes are implemented in the completion of maintenance and repairs.
- Complies with school Safety Manual Rules and Regulations and satisfies OSHA requirements.
- Works from blueprints, sketches, pictures, or word descriptions to fabricate a wide variety of wood projects, as needed.
- Constructs, alters, or repairs a wide variety of wood structures, as needed.
- Repairs, installs and services electrical systems, as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
