Avalon Health Care Management Inc. is Hiring a Business Office Manager Near Reno, NV

Northern Nevada State Veterans Home is seeking a Business Office Manager. Fulltime Day Shift.
Summary/Objective:
  • Provide financial, payroll, administrative, and facility management support and coordination for an Avalon skilled care facility. Working collaboratively with the Administrator, facility Management Team and Avalon’s Shared Services Center ensures the financial, accounting, processes at the facility level office are consistent with Avalon’s policy and procedures as well as with good business practice.
  • Oversee receptionist and front desk staff, as directed by the Facility Administrator.
  • Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Accounting:
  • Performs accounts receivables functions and maintains related records.
  • Acts as a cashier and performs required duties.
  • Issues receipts to all persons paying cash and on request when paying by check.
  • Records all charges and collections for accounts receivable aging.
  • Analyzes the accounts receivable aging monthly and reports delinquent accounts to the Administrator.
  • Acquire information required for billing of the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Maintains a statistical record as to the utilization of licensed beds, as required in the preparation of the Medicare Cost Report.
  • On accounts covered by hospitalization insurance, Medicare and Medicaid; analyze billings and submits notices of admission to insurance carriers or government agencies as determined by coverage.
  • Prepares and forwards statements to residents whose cases have been rejected or on whose accounts there is a balance after coverage terminates.
  • Maintains residents’ trust fund under the Administrator’s guidance.
  • Maintains a ledger on which will be recorded all funds left with the facility on behalf of the residents.
  • Protect and safeguard the patient trust petty cash and the facility petty cash funds.
  • Will provide quarterly reporting to all residents of balances on their accounts.
  • Lead collection activities related to past due accounts.
  • Provide timely communication to the Central Billing Office to continue collection pursuit on outstanding claims.
  • Provide a positive relationship with the Central Billing Office, Patient/Patient Families and Insurance Providers.
  • Manages accounts payable activities for the facility.
  • Answer phone calls, greet visitors and assist them as needed by answering questions or getting them in touch with the person(s) who can.
Resident’s Rights:
  • Knows Resident Rights. Helps the residents/residents exercise and/or protect their rights.
  • Reports resident/resident complaints to management.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident/resident information.
  • Understand, comply with and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents’ rights.
  • Support resident autonomy and choice.
Required Education and Experience
  • High school graduate or its equivalent.
  • Five or more years of related experience including supervision of multiple staff.
  • Ability to read and write at a high school level and to follow oral and written directions.
  • Demonstrable ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance procedures, contracts etc., covering business transactions.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule.
  • Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff.
  • Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to maintain regular attendance.
  • Meet all health requirements, as required by law.
  • Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and ability, particularly Microsoft Outlook and Word, with an aptitude to learn company applications.
  • Demonstrate understanding of State and Federal rules and regulations that govern the practices within the facility.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Management, Finance, Human Resources, or Accounting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Kronos preferred.
  • Health care accounting experience.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
