Situated inDowntown’s Second Street District, Austin Proper Hotel & Residences is thenewest luxury lifestyle hotel in Austin, just steps from Lady Bird Lake, thelegendary Austin City Limits music venue and nearby boutiques. With inspiringinteriors by Kelly Wearstler and culinary offerings in collaboration with MMLHospitality, Austin Proper offers 238 rooms and suites, a dedicated spa andfitness center, and 9,500 square feet of meeting and event spaces, including arooftop pool deck offering small-batch tequilas and majestic lake views.Anything less just wouldn’t be Proper.

Located onthe 5th floor of the Austin Proper Hotel, La Piscina is a convivial poolsiderestaurant and bar serving Texas-inspired Mexican cuisine. The vibrant, openspace overlooks the downtown Austin bustle as groups convene over family-styleplatters, ceviche, and table-top sizzling fajitas, with fresh seafood grilledover a wood fire and house-made tortillas from an open comal. The bar providesan accompanying selection of frozen margaritas, native Mexican spirits,small-batch tequila & mezcal, as well as an assortment of outdoor-friendlysnacks.

Job Overview

As a Seasonal Pool Host you play a crucial role in creating a memorable and exceptionaldining experience for our guests. From April 1 - November 1, your warm and gracious hospitality, attentionto detail, and professionalism set the tone for their visit. You are the firstand last point of contact, ensuring that each guest feels welcomed and valued. 

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Warmly welcome guests upon their arrival with a courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Escort guests to their reserved tables and present menus.
  • Assist in seating arrangements, considering guest preferences and table availability.
  • Manage reservations efficiently, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely confirmations.
  • Maintain a waitlist and communicate table availability to the restaurant managers and servers.
  • Build rapport with guests, address their needs, and provide information about the menu, daily specials, and wine selections.
  • Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and dietary restrictions with professionalism and empathy.
  • Coordinate with restaurant staff to ensure smooth table turnover and timely service.
  • Monitor table assignments and dining room flow to optimize guest experience.
  • Ensure that the front-of-house area, including the entrance, lobby, and dining room, is impeccably clean and well-maintained.
  • Assist with table settings, including arranging silverware, glassware, and linens.
  • Thank guests for dining with us as they leave and inquire about their experience.
  • Handle payment processing and provide receipts as needed.
  • Recognize and acknowledge repeat guests, special occasions, and celebrations, making their experience extra memorable.
  • Proficiently use reservation management software to access guest information and manage bookings.
  • Collaborate closely with servers, bartenders, and otherrestaurant staff to ensure seamless service. - Attend pre-shift meetings toreview reservations and special requests.

  • Partner with and assist others to promote an environment ofteamwork and achieve common goals.
  • Demonstrateability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly, correctly, and in a waythat allows one to solve work-related issues.
  • Usesbasic computer hardware and software.
  • Move,lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25pounds without assistance.
  • Stand,sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Reachoverhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, andstooping.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work outdoors in different types of weather

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Minimum one (1) year related hospitality and service experience
  • Active TABC and Food Handler’s certification
  • Must be at least 18 years’ old
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
