Austin PBS is Hiring a Director of Community Relations Near Austin, TX

Description:

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Community Relations is responsible for providing strategic leadership in driving a comprehensive public affairs agenda across the organization, including leading and oversight of the advocacy and communications teams; maintaining relationships with and running the Community Advisory Board (CAB). The Director of Community Relations will brainstorm, plan, and manage activities to help the organization achieve its public relations goals and execute events or programs closely aligned with the organization's strategy. They develop strong relationships with communities, business leaders and media to ensure the organization produces significant results and maintains a positive image and increases outreach of initiatives and programs

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee, develop, and implement community-based programs.
  • Handle sensitive data and ensure confidentiality of material, correspondence and data.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to apply and create best practice solutions.
  • Manage external partners and vendors to augment internal resources.
  • Maintain compliance with all local employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, online and in person registration, and promotion plans.
  • Maintain the constituent database: create reports, maintain accuracy, enter/download/analyze data.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with federal and state policymakers.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • 5 - 7 or more years of executive leadership and managerial experience in public, for-profit, or not-for-profit organizations..
  • Appreciation for and commitment to a mission-driven organization
  • Experience supervising senior-level personnel and mentoring professionals in the areas of communications and advocacy.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of defining, communicating and implementing a forward-looking, comprehensive vision for external affairs at a mission-driven non-profit.
  • Experience, knowledge, skills, and competence working to meet the needs of diverse communities.
  • Exceptional leadership, human relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate staff.
  • Deep understanding of public policy development and how to influence public policy at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Ability to solve problems and facilitate problem-solving.
  • Willing and able to travel when needed

This is a full-time salaried position that is currently hybrid. Annual salary of $90,000 commensurate with experience.
