Role Description

As a Professional Land Surveyor with Austin Engineering, you will be responsible for completing the office and field work for various types of survey and engineering related projects throughout Illinois and Eastern Iowa.

These tasks will include but not be limited to the following :

  • Perform preliminary research in office and at the courthouse and prepare job files for the field crews.
  • Compute land survey boundaries, prepare staking files for construction layout, and prepare various types of survey plats.
  • Effectively communicate survey results to clients and project managers.
  • Oversight of field crews collecting data for your assigned projects.
  • Organization and management of survey field books, records, and files.
  • Assist Corporate land Survey Manager and other project managers as required.
  • Assist with Bids and Proposals.
  • Review of Deliverables and delivery of products.
  • Fill in as a Survey Crew Chief when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible surveying experience.
  • Expertise performing boundary surveys, ALTA / NSPS surveys, FEMA surveys, topographic surveys and construction layout.
  • Expertise with Trimble GPS and Robotic survey equipment.
  • Expertise with AutoCAD software (Civil 3D experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of field to finish survey procedures.
  • PLS Licensure in Illinois (Iowa PLS Licensure is a plus)
  • Clean driver’s license and the ability to travel on an as-needed basis.
