POSITION DESCRIPTION
Maurer-Stutz, Inc. is seeking a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in a science or construction-related field for a full-time entry level
Land Surveyor position. Candidates must be qualified to take the Fundamentals of Surveying exam in Illinois, which requires having
completed at least 24 semester hours of land surveying courses from a Board approved curriculum.
EXAMPLES OF RECENT SURVEYING PROJECTS:
Topographic and control surveying for the replacement of a deficient overpass bridge at I-74 and Pinecrest Drive interchange in East
Peoria, Illinois.
Topographic, route, and legal surveys, including setting control and preparing temporary easement exhibits and legal descriptions
for the replacement of a structure in a nature preserve on Sheridan Road over Lick Creek for the City of Pekin, Illinois.
ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys of the MidAmerica National Bank in Canton, Illinois, the proposed Bank of Farmington in Peoria, Illinois
and the Buckeye Terminal in Chillicothe, Illinois.
Topographic and Control Surveying to obtain a comprehensive surface model for designers to use along with Right-of-Way boundary
determination for the Alta Road/Allen Road Roundabout for the City of Peoria, Illinois.
Complete topographic survey of a portion of Mackinaw River and surrounding land near Wagonseller Road in Tazewell County, Illinois
to assist with design efforts to stabilize the stream channel and protect the existing bridge piers. The topographic survey required a
combination of survey data collection including a bathymetric survey of the stream channel, an aerial drone survey, conventional
total station survey, and scanning of the channel side slopes. All collected survey data was used to complete a surface model contour
drawing of the existing site conditions which was then merged with available Lidar data outside of the survey limits to develop a
complete topographic map of the entire project area. Boundary survey work was also performed to create easement plats as deemed
necessary for proposed improvements.
Control Quality Assurance survey work for closure and redesigned storm water management controls of on-site ash ponds and the
coal combustion residual landfill at Duck Creek Power Plant in Canton, Illinois. Survey work included initial control surveys,
topographic surveys, construction staking/layout, structure monitoring surveys, as-built surveys, and quality control verification
surveying and documentation.
ENTRY-LEVEL SURVEYOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all types of field surveys including topographic, bathymetric, boundary and construction staking
Perform records research, field reconnaissance and analysis necessary to resolve land boundaries under direction of licensed PLS
Prepare CAD drafts of various survey plats and existing site base drawings
BASE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree and eligible to earn their Professional Land Surveyor license within 5 years
Strong organization and communication skills
Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS, Autodesk AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, and basic Microsoft
Office (Word and Excel) software platforms is preferred
Working knowledge of current technology survey equipment, including robotic total stations and survey controllers, GPS equipment,
levels, etc.
o Knowledge of Trimble surveying equipment preferred
