We are seeking a Special Inspector to join our Kennewick, WA team! Come join us!

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Obtain representative samples of construction materials.
  • Review plans and specifications for project requirements.
  • Perform inspection and testing for: rebar, epoxy, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, bolting, asphalt, and other items.
  • Provide the testing lab with all required information related to samples obtained.
  • Provide accurate test reports and daily diary to be submitted prior to leaving the jobsite.
  • Track time and supplies for the projects worked.
  • Track training hours on provided documentation.
  • Return calls or email within a reasonable time period.
  • Maintain a professional image.
  • Maintain assigned gear in clean and operable condition.
  • Complete timecards and expense reports at the end of each shift.
  • Complete all required safety reporting.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school graduate or education level commensurate with position requirements, with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Professional demeanor, even temperament, personal integrity and ability to make project-related decisions impartially.
  • Good general math skills; understanding of constants, physical sciences, and the fundamentals of welding.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable; team oriented with ability to prioritize.
  • Detail oriented with ability to multi-task.
  • Work well with other employees and construction-related personnel.
  • Technical reading, writing and research.
  • Read and interpret Project Plans (drawings) and Specifications
  • This position Requires availability at the contractor’s convenience. This includes any and all hours and days necessary to fulfill the needs of the project’s construction schedule. The position requires the ability to respond on short notice and at irregular hours, to work overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays, with occasional overnight trips for out-of-town projects.

Technical Requirements:

  • Candidate will be required to pursue and maintain relevant certifications such as ICC, Firestop, ACI, and WAQTC.
  • General computer skills such as: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Advanced understanding of construction materials testing and inspection.
  • Basic mathematic and writing skills.
  • Communication through phone calls and email.
  • Knowledge of current IBC and ACI specification manuals.
  • Possess current ICC certifications in 1 or more of the listed: reinforced concrete, masonry, fireproofing.
  • Possess current ACI qualification in 1 or more of the listed: Field, SCC, Strength.

Other miscellaneous qualities:

  • The following are certifications that, while not requisite to this position, provide the Field Inspector with additional testing and inspection capabilities:
  • ACI Field Testing Technician Level 1
  • Radiation Safety Training and Nuclear Density Gauge Operation
  • Soils (Aggregate and Embankment) Training
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
  • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
  • ICC Structural Steel Special Inspector
  • ICC Pre-stressed Concrete Special Inspector
  • ICC Spray Applied Fireproofing Inspector Certificate

Compensation:

$25 - $35 hourly

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
