Atlas Manufacturing is Hiring an Accounting Assistant/Accounts Payable Near Minneapolis, MN

SUMMARY

Compiles and maintains the accounts payable process by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Verifies invoices with packing slips and purchase orders and enters invoice into ERP system. Analyzes invoices to identify items needing use tax added.
  • Submits all vouchers to be paid weekly and generates cash flow requirements weekly for Controller to approve.
  • Research vendor statements, phone calls and discrepancies. Resolves accounts payable questions with vendors.
  • Maintains vendor database.
  • Analyzes vendor accounts and negotiates extended terms with vendors when cash is restricted.
  • Maintains all accounts payable files including purchase orders.
  • Assists in monthly closings. Generates G/L entries for AMEX charges monthly.
  • Assists various departments with administrative and filing duties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Must be able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to communicate with all levels of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Detail oriented and self-starter. Strong computer and 10-key skills. Familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office applications as well as some knowledge of accounting software packages. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Good customer service skills. Strong organizational skills.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
