Job Description & Duties

Department: Showroom Sales

Reports to: Showroom Sales Supervisor

Job Objective:

The showroom Sales / Customer Service Representative will interact with customers to provide and process information in response to inquiries, concerns and requests about our products. Meet or exceed monthly showroom sales quotas at the appropriate gross margin set forth by the Showroom Sales Supervisor, while increasing customer satisfaction. Maintaining yourself and the customers informed of the different trends in natural stone is critical to your success as a sales representative. Sharing ideas, market trends and competition knowledge with others in different sales staff throughout the company is very important. Having extensive product knowledges send a clear message to your customer that you are competent in selling and promoting the products we market and sell.

Responsibilities:

  • Deal directly with showroom customers either by telephone, electronically or face to face.
  • Maintain a professional and correct composure to your customer, treat them with courtesy and respect.
  • Generate new and repeat sales by providing product and technical information in a timely manner to the customers.
  • Determine customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products from our inventory.
  • Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability, needs or specifications from the customer.
  • Accurately process customer transactions such as orders and quotes.
  • Ensure that all proper documentation is signed by your customer such as, Proformas, Estimates, Quotes and Terms and Conditions.
  • Be alert always of your customer’s requests when paying with a credit card, be on the lookout for suspicious and or fraudulent charges and sales.
  • Provide accurate information regarding availability of in-stock items and items in transit using the information provided to you on a weekly basis.
  • Obtain accurate information from purchasing relating to shipment dates and expected date of delivery.
  • Proactively recommend items needed by customers to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability.
  • Educate customers about terminology, features and benefits of products to improve product related sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed.
  • Contact customers following sales to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and resolve any complaints and or issues.
  • Fill requests for catalogs, information or samples.
  • Remain current on consumer preferences, changes in local codes and product developments by attending showroom sales meetings, trade shows, or reading trade journals.
  • Increase sales and average order size by means of cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering promotional sale items.
  • Identify trends in customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction.
  • Communicate to the purchasing department unexpected increases or decreases in demand for products.
  • Follow company policies and procedures for operations, ethics and always promote the core values of the company.
  • Present a professional image of the company always to customers and vendors.
  • Submit Daily & Weekly Sales Reports to Showroom Sales Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Communicate with purchasing for new inventory items and promptly display them in the showroom with the guidance of your manager and or the Operations Manager.
  • Pricing guidelines for showroom sales must be followed always. Pricing deviations are to be approved by the Showroom Sales Suoervisor or any other senior staff member.
  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
