The Job at a Glance
As the Safety Director (internally referred to as our Stop, Drop, & Roll Fanatic), you will oversee the implementation, development, and success of comprehensive environmental health, safety & security programs for Parts Town Americas and Parts Town Home division. You will provide the necessary guidance and support to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local laws and standards as well as develop relationships with various levels of leadership within and outside the organization. Bottomline - Takes on the responsibility of creating and maintaining a strong safety culture, our #1 core value.
What a typical day looks like:
-With Parts Town leadership, develop, document, adjust and sustain programs that keep our people safe
-Collaborate with leaders to develop the Standard Operating Procedure for training programs
-Establish and lead the company's safety committee in collaboration with building leaders to develop accident-prevention programs to incorporate operational policies
-Work closely with operations to identify risks and implement a control methodology
-As the Safety Director you will promote proactive safety participation by all employees, ensuring injuries, illnesses, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions are reported, investigated, and mitigated
-Engage with teams to identify hazards, develop incident investigation, process safety review, and safety audits
-Work with regulatory agencies such as Insurance Companies, Fire Department, and Occupational Health Providers
-Facilitate compliance with regulatory environmental & safety standards through audits, inspections, and data documentation
-Assist leaders with safety root-cause investigations, provide recommendations for corrective/preventative measures, and ensure that accurate environmental and injury/illness records and reports are up to date
-Collaborate with Workers Comp provider to reduce expense and improve return to work programs
-Create and implement building security policies and procedures ensuring the safety of our team members
-Employ visual management to ensure safe processes are understood and sustained. Implement communication practices that raise team member understanding and awareness of safe practices to avoid injuries
-Maintains all safety KPIs and creates regular communication of successes and opportunities
