Description:

This is a Patient Care Specialist working the front desk of P&O Care (prosthetics and orthotics office). You will be the first point of contact for patients, doing appointment setting, scheduling appointments, checking and verifying insurance and copays. Ensuring cards are all up to date. You will be taking incoming calls and making outbound calls to patients and insurance companies. Duties and Responsibilities: • Answers incoming phone calls. • Maintains open communication with patients and referral sources and staff. • Responds to patient questions and problems. • Services walk-in patients and visitors. • Assists in scheduling appointment for patients based on availability of appropriate staff and calls to confirm appointments. • Sets up new patient files. • Verifies eligibility and benefits as needed. • Clears previous day's patient visits, reviews file for completeness and accuracy. • Ensure customers receive the best service possible and concerns are satisfactorily resolved. • Continuously update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and training as needed. • Performs other duties as requested.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must have an even personality, who can take hostility but also can be empathetic. Good computer skills and has worked with some medical software/electronic medical record system. Must be able to multitask and think critically.
