Associated Grocers, Inc. is Hiring a Refrigeration Maintenance Supervisor Near Baton Rouge, LA

Summary

The Refrigeration Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the productive work of all refrigeration employees to provide a safe, clean and efficient operation of the ammonia refrigeration system. This position requires daily presence with other team members to support, train and direct. The Supervisor ensures the plant equipment and related systems are properly maintained, identifies equipment failures and takes corrective actions. Coordinate work performed by outside contractors, vendors and engineering consultants as assigned. The responsibilities of this position require an on-call status at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Establish and maintain appropriate work quality standards.
  2. Issue work orders that need completion and collect reports from subordinates.
  3. Prioritize and assign tasks to employees.
  4. Oversee and inspect the completion of employees tasks.
  5. Maintain appropriate parts stock to ensure business continuity.
  6. Oversee testing of safety equipment for the ammonia refrigeration system.
  7. Maintain plant equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
  8. Work with outside contractors on company projects.
  9. Ensure employees comply with all safety rules, regulations and guidelines.
  10. Follow IIAR recommendations.
  11. Understand and follow all guidelines in the PSM/RMP programs.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises the Refrigeration Mechanic and Assistant Refrigeration Operator within the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Working knowledge of normal shop equipment and hand tools
  • 2-3 years' maintenance supervision experience or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of all electrical voltages and phases
  • 2-3 years' skilled safety knowledge of all warehouse equipment functions and operations
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record required.
