Position Summary - Optical Assistant

The Optical Assistant (OA) supports the opticians and providers ensuring optimal patient experience and product flow. The OA assists with daily office functions including; ordering, inventory, lens edging and customer service needs such as product delivery, repairs and maintenance. The OA manages inbound and outbound telephone traffic and provides additional customer support where applicable.

Optical Assistant Essential Functions

• Organizes and distributes incoming eyewear orders to the appropriate facility
• Inventory management-enter and tag new product, and organize inventory in dispensary
• Edges lenses under the supervision of Optical Support Lead
• Assists with contact lens tasks and order processing, both in-store and from sales processed through the online retail store as a backup to Contact Lens Coordinator
• Updates customers with order status, such as potential delays or notification that orders are complete
• Greets and appropriately guide customers when all opticians are busy
• Answers inbound phone calls, directing traffic accordingly
• Communicates with frame vendors and laboratory customer service as necessary
• Cleans dispensary and optical work area to maintain a neat and professional environment

Other Essential Functions - Optical Assistant

• Must be willing and able to work a variety of hours and work in the various locations as needed
• Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time
• Participates in department and company meetings, as requested
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Licensing - Optical Assistant

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, required

Experience - Optical Assistant

• Previous optometric experience preferred
