Asia Society is Hiring a Remote Assistant Director, AAPI and Education Programs

The Assistant Director, AAPI and Education Programs is responsible for developing, managing and delivering public and private programs on Asian American and Pacific Islander topics; developing and convening youth and public programs under Education Initiatives and working with other staff (in Development, Digital and Communications, Policy, Arts & Culture, People & Culture, and Global Initiatives) to coordinate organization-wide activities to promote diversity and inclusion in Asia Society’s content and programming initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Efforts including but not limited to the following:

  • Help develop a strategy for AAPI programming
  • Organize public or private events related to youth education and AAPI topics, including overseeing every aspect of event execution, from initial concept to vendor management, scheduling, speaker invitations and communication, as well as on-site coordination
  • Conceptualize, develop, deliver and evaluate programs
  • Develop and maintain relations with partnering organizations
  • With the Vice President of Education, develop and oversee policies and initiatives to integrate AAPI voices and perspectives in all aspects of Asia Society programs and content, including programming activities arising from the Asian Diaspora Project
  • Build and maintain relationships and partnerships with the government, business, cultural, education and community/diaspora organizations and networks active on the AAPI issues and foreign diplomatic community
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Education and other Education programming staff to conceptualize, develop, coordinate and manage a year-long series of programs on youth topics
  • Working closely with the Vice President of Education and other programming staff, prepare budgets/forecasts as needed; forecasting, reviewing monthly statements, and tracking all expenses
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7-10 years of working experience in project planning and management
  • Graduate Degree in a relevant field preferred
  • Creative & innovative thinker, collaborative team player, proven programmer and manager with ability to plan, organize, market and coordinate events across different disciplines
  • Passion for and commitment to AAPI empowerment and leadership, and goals and mission of Asia Society
  • A team player, comfortable and effective working with all levels of staff and with diverse groups of people from different cultures
  • Knowledge of Diversity and Inclusion, AAPI issues and US-Asia relations
  • Existing relationships and a track record of working with AAPI organizations and networks in New York area and beyond
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written and overall communications skills
  • Strong relationship-management skills
  • Must be able to multi-task and deal with occasional high-stress, fast-paced environment
  • Competent and creative content creator and user of social media, image, video and audio editing applications
  • Ability to supervise and direct support staff
  • Computer skills, including Word, Excel, and experience with CRM
  • Asian language skills are encouraged
  • Flexible schedule is required, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet the dynamic needs of events
  • Travel as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000

Compensation within this range is determined by skills, experience, and organizational equity.

Benefit package highlights:
