Ascent Aerospace – Inspiring the next generation of flight!Summary of PositionUnder shop supervision the Welder 2 is responsible for fitting and welding of steel, aluminum and Invar 36 parts using a MIG/TIG process. Essential FunctionsThis document in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying the position.Set up welding machines based on the specifications of the jobRead and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirementsMIG/TIG weld steel, aluminum and Invar 36 components based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawingsRepair broken or damaged partsFabricate and revise fixtures, jigs, gauges, hand applies and special tooling and componentsKeep work area clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilitiesWork with team members to maximize productivity and efficiencyAny additional duties as reasonably assigned by management Required Skills, Education & ExperienceAny combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:High school diploma or GED3 – 5 years of relevant work experienceCompletion of a Welding certificate from a College or Technical SchoolExperience with Steel, aluminum and/or Invar 36 Experience with MIG and TIG welding required Knowledge of machines and toolsAbility to read blueprints, drawings, calipers and tape measuresThis position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22.C.F.R. § is required Preferred QualificationsForklift/crane certification and experienceAbility to effectively handle tasks in a fast-paced environmentAble to work varied shifts, overtime and weekends when necessaryHas confidence in leading processes, projects and looks for opportunitiesAbility to work with management team to help drive performance of location SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYNone Travel REQUIREMENTSTravel is primarily local during the business day, although some projects may require more out-of-the-area and overnight travel. Working ConditionsWorking conditions described here are representative of those that may be experienced by an employee on a daily basis while performing the functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles.The employee may be exposed to vibration.The employee is occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals.
