Aligned Orthopedic Partners is recruiting an experienced Revenue Cycle Manager to support billing operations in our Maryland and Virginia Beach locations.

What you will do:

Supervisory Duties

  • Assists with recruitment, discipline, and termination of Medical Coders and Revenue Cycle Specialists performing coding, charge entry and billing functions
  • Trains and oversees the performance of Medical Coders and Revenue Cycle Specialists
  • Meets with Medical Coders and Revenue Cycle Specialists on a regular basis to discuss key issues, overall coding/charge entry/billing performance, and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide in-service to staff regarding insurance requirements
  • Monitors overall workload and production in the department, and distributes work accordingly
  • Ensures all duties are covered in the case of vacancies, vacations and sick days

Charge Entry and Billing Duties

  • Meets with the Revenue Cycle Director as needed to discuss specific concerns related to the accurate and timely processing of patient charges and claims processing
  • Communicates with providers and key operation team members regarding billing and coding updates and questions. 
  • Works to receive timely information from physicians and physician assistants regarding which surgical procedures are performed, and ensures charges are entered accurately in the EPM for processing within 48 hours of receipt of information
  • Maintains knowledge of the operational details of all key positions in the business office, including coding, charge posting and insurance claim processing
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
  • Ensures all Worker’s Compensation claims are properly completed, mailed with associated reports and noted in the computer when mailed
  • Seeks and recommends ways to use technology to improve operational efficiency
  • Performs monthly audits to ensure the complete and timely entry of all charge entry data and insurance processing from all medical practice sites for services provided
  • Works with staff to ensure timely month end processing, with a goal to close month end within three business days of month end.
  • Initiates modifications of procedural paperwork related to charge entry and insurance processing – encounter forms, billing screens, etc.
  • Assists in maintaining practice CPT and ICD-10-CM codes in the computer system
  • Maintains communication with all support vendors that deal with the billing process of claims to ensure systems are updated and functioning meeting the requirements of Federal Guidelines
  • Collaborates with the Revenue Cycle Manager who oversees collection activities to ensure a smooth communication between the function of billing and collection, and that all pertinent processes are in place.

Other Duties

  • Occasional travel to our Virginia Beach location
  • Attends Medicare and other seminars as requested and maintains and distributes updates as applicable
  • Prepares information for the HIPAA Compliance Officer as needed
  • Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice
  • Attends monthly Management meetings and work together with all other department managers to ensure high quality of processes and workflow through out the company

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Two to three years of experience in office management and working in a physician group practice billing department
  • Certification as a Medical Coder
  • Proven knowledge of CPT and ICD-9-CM coding for orthopaedics and orthopaedic surgery
  • Proven success in managing staff
  • Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
  • Knowledge of practice management and word processing software
  • Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and cheerful attitude
  • Able to enter data into the computer system accurately
