Job Summary

Artemis is seeking a full-time Congressional Support Associate to support a wide range of outreach efforts as part of a larger communications team. This individual will be responsible for monitoring, triaging, assigning, coordinating and tracking the status of incoming and open requests for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information Technology (OIT) congressional support team.

This candidate will be expected to work onsite in Washington, D.C. approximately three times a week.

This is a contingent hire position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate responses to oversight body Requests for Information Questions for the Record and requests for technical assistance.
  • Track status of the government’s response for each question by the due date.
  • Ensure the government maintains the responses in a way that is searchable for reference for subsequent questions and responses.
  • Help ensure consistent messaging across responses.
  • Take notes during briefings, hearings and associated preparatory sessions with executive leadership, ensuring notes are suitable for sharing information with senior government staff and available in an online library for team use.
  • Provide input to weekly reports and meeting agendas.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned by senior project management.
  • Translate complex messaging into plain language to ensure materials are easy to read, understand and use.
  • Ensure content conveys critical information and reflects key messaging in a standardized and consistent tone and voice.
  • Review documents for stylistic and formatting consistency.
  • Ensure all content aligns with client style guides and federal plain language standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of related congressional support experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government.
  • Familiarity with congressional and other oversight bodies.
  • Comfortability with supporting complex client relationships.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Client Information

The OIT Office of Communication (OC) provides direct communication support to the Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology and Chief Information Officer, the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and the OIT Chief of Staff. OC is responsible for OIT’s communication strategy and implementation of that strategy, including strategic communication engagement with VA and OIT employees, VA business partners, oversight bodies, Veterans and end users of VA digital offerings, Information Technology industry partners and media. OC is accountable for the delivery of all strategic messaging products and services associated with that engagement
