Armada Hoffler Properties is Hiring an Assistant Superintendent - Baltimore, MD Near Baltimore, MD

Job Summary: t he Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the lead Project Superintendent and assists by managing designated field activities associated with the project and supervises designated field construction work by subcontractors and employees. Assists the team in planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the building aspects of each project in order to meet budget quality, time, and safety objectives.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensures field compliance with Armada Hoffler's Safety Program.
  • Assists the project team to formulate the project schedule, ensuring the proper methods and sequence of installation are followed. Ensures subcontractors understand job schedules and make every effort to meet them.
  • Reviews manpower requirements relative to meeting current job progress schedules, and follows up for timely delivery of materials to meet established schedules.
  • Ensures complete and accurate daily documentation of work orders/tickets, understands subcontractor scope of work to avoid unnecessary change orders, identifies problems early, and acts immediately to provide solutions.
  • Makes arrangements for temporary facilities/utilities for the site, and identifies long lead items that need to be expedited.
  • Monitors the work to assure good quality control, and to make certain that work conforms to all plans and specifications as outlined by the lead superintendent.
  • BS degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.
  • 2-5 years experience in commercial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractor.
  • Ability to reach and interpret blueprints and understand specifications.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally, with a strong focus on audience.
  • Must possess solid judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates integrity consistently and follows Armada Hoffler's mission and core values.

Physical Demands and Work Environment :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work on-site at an active construction project where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
Performance of these duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job will require the use of hands to fingers with the ability to handle, or feel objects, sit, talk, and hear. It will require the employee to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop and kneel. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Travel to out-of-town projects is anticipated so employee should possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record in accordance with Armada Hoffler's Driver Qualification Policy.

The successful candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug screens and a background check.
