POSITION SUMMARY :

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The Evidence-Based Program Coordinator at the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting them and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Establishes relationships with public health, physician, payer communities and other referral networks to enhance awareness of and referrals to YMCA's Evidence-Based Program.

Maintains healthy relationships with staff, volunteers, and community partners.

  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
  • Develops recruiting and screening events to engage eligible participants in the program.
  • Communicates with frontline staff at branches to promote a culture of connection to YMCA's Evidence- Based Programs.
  • Serves as a liaison, ambassador, and advocate for YMCA's Evidence-Based Programs within public health, physician, and payer communities by making office visits to provide educational information to grow programs.
  • Facilitates the full year long Evidence-Based Programs a minimum of four times annually. Responsible for a high level of service and communication with all eligible participants from the initial engagement through enrollment and graduation.
  • Retains private medical information used in YMCA's Evidence-Based Programs and consistently reports on all measurable data.
  • Supports the development, implementation, and management of health and wellness programs, complying with all Association standards and safety procedures.
  • Assists in creating and scheduling all wellness programming. Performs duties of a fitness instructor and personal trainer as needed.

All other duties as assigned.

Oversees the volunteers who are planning, developing, promoting, and implementing programs for active older adults that promote physical, mental, and social health.

Oversees the volunteers who creates an annual schedule of events for active older adults to include but not limited to lunch and learns, mall walks, senior health fair, holiday events, and monthly bus trips.

  • Employs strategies to increase member engagement and member retention.
  • Provides data and reports on assigned programs in support of the planning process of the branch and Association.
  • Provides staff leadership for the annual fundraising campaign and other committees as assigned.
  • Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for the evidence-based programs and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Leads evidence-based program coaches effectively; recruits and hires diverse staff; Onboards and develops them for success and conducts monthly one-on-one meetings with all staff.
  • All Other administrative duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Related degree or relevant experience preferred.
  • Obtain and remain compliant with all certifications and standards assigned by YMCA of the USA and the AMA YMCA.
  • Should have experience in recruiting, marketing, outreach, motivating others, and must understand relationship development.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented.
  • A flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, is a plus.
  • Must possess skills to operate standard office and computer equipment, data management, organizational and budgeting skills.
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, physical education, recreation or equivalent or a minim of two years of experience in health / fitness field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Possess required certifications in group exercise and personal training or have the ability to obtain these in the first 3 months of employment.
  • Two or more years of supervisory and staff recruitment experience in health and wellness preferred.
  • Ability to support the training of fitness staff, including, but not limited to group exercise instructors, personal trainers, and wellness coaches.
  • Experience in planning and implementing activities with senior adults preferred.
  • Obtain and remain compliant with all certifications and standards assigned by YMCA of the USA and the AMA YMCA.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to make oral presentations.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • CPR / AED / O2 / First Aid certifications and Child Abuses Prevention, Anti-Harassment, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication Awareness, and Slips, Trips, and Falls trainings required within 30 days of hire.
