Arlington Independent School District is Hiring a Coordinator - Food Service Compliance Near Arlington, TX

ROLE AND PURPOSE:

  • The Coordinator is primarily responsible for processing and managing the applications for free or reduced meals for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
  • This position is responsible for ensuring that the district, department and campuses are in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Customer service, communication and accurate accountability for claiming funds according to the correct eligibility are major responsibilities of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of applicable work and supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge and experience in school food service (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must be detailed oriented, good organizational, supervisory, problem solving and decision making skills are essential on a daily basis.
  • Must have excellent understanding and skills in computers and technology to include exporting and importing data files.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with ability to develop a data dashboard for department.
  • Ability to manage federal and state regulations and guidelines for the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE

  • Work with parents, staff, students and community in a positive and cooperative manner to resolve any questions, concerns or requests.

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT

  • Develop and implement annual plan for processing Free or Reduced Meal Application Program.
  • Responsible for the management of all the department records and storage instructions to include development, implementation and maintenance of department data dashboard.

ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

  • Organize, update, prepare and order all items required for free and reduced meal application processing and notification.
  • Prepare State Application Agreement/Renewals.
  • Coordinate rollover of student data in computer system to ensure point of sale information is annually updated.
  • Set up free and reduced filing system to ensure compliance and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Ensure verification is performed and submitted as per federal and state requirements.

STUDENT MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and maintain system for tracking and communicating categorically eligible students in cooperation with the district liaisons and state department.

SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS

  • Ensure media releases are sent for publishing to the appropriate parties through the district Information Services Department.
  • Responsible for notifying parents of expiring benefits to ensure no lapse in service.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop and conduct training for district data clerks regarding meal application processing and student information system accuracy.
  • Develop materials annually and conducts training for cafeteria managers.
  • Develop materials and conduct training for compliance staff and temporary workers.
  • Ensure that compliance employees attend or be provided annual training from the Region XI Service Center on application processing.
  • Responsible for obtaining all federal and state requirements to ensure compliance for the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compliance staff to include temporary clerical employees.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor.

  • Ability to process information quickly and accurately.
  • Mathematical, computation skills for use in preparing and processing free and reduced meal applications.
  • Cognitive skills for organizing and planning tasks, processes and instructional materials.
  • Ability to work with large number of people which may be stressed or demanding.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • High energy level required;
  • Ability to maintain contacts with a busy office and all school environments.
