Duties & responsibilities:

• Serves as a subject matter expert in the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of applications systems. Writes and maintains computer code and tests applications.
• Provides ongoing guidance and training to less experienced staff in all phases of application programming.
• Recommend and enact improvements to workflow, simplify operational and reporting procedures and improve performance standards.
• Strengthen team knowledge by documenting lessons learned and sharing knowledge and approaches to problem solving. Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement.
• Meet regularly with RII Core Facilities IT and BIO5 IT staff and stakeholders, and as needed with UITS and university peers.
• Additional duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively with customers possessing varying levels of technical knowledge.
• Ability to troubleshoot software systems.
• Comfortable operating in a mixed cloud/on-premises environment.
• Skilled at system architecture and design, with an emphasis on re-architecture and re-engineering.
• Practical knowledge of software automation (CI/CD pipelines, etc.).
• Knowledge of cloud (AWS) design patterns.
