- Operate outdoor free-space optical (FSO) communication system with adaptive optics and beam tracking.
- Provide technical leadership in the areas of adaptive optics and beam tracking for FSO communication applications.
- Improve the operation of existing adaptive optics and beam steering systems.
- Implement machine learning based deformable mirror adaptation to time-varying FSO channel conditions.
- Presents work at project meetings, national and international meetings, and at regular group meetings.
- Publish work in the peer-reviewed high impact scientific journals.
- Assist in writing research grant proposals.
- Mentor, collaborate with and co-advise graduate and undergraduate students.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Be able to conduct independent research, data management analysis and interpretation.
- Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications.
