IT Network Administrator - Senior |
Reports to: Director – Infrastructure Services Last Update: 3/13/2023
Overview:
The Network Administrator Senior role is to design, install, administer, and optimize company network and voice systems, utilizing primarily Cisco and Microsoft Azure, to achieve superior uptime in support of the business. This includes ensuring the availability of LANs, WANs, WLANs, telephony, and virtual machines encompassing all configurations/new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing environment support.
Essential Duties (Approximate % of Time Spent)
- Install, configure, test, and maintain all network and voice environments. This includes Cisco route/ switch/firewalls/voice, Meraki, Microsoft Azure, Teams, and virtual machines. Manage LAN/WAN/WLAN services and infrastructure ensuring highest levels of systems availability. Analyze and evaluate solutions and provide technical recommendations to improve operations and utilization. Perform capacity planning and optimization. (~40%) - Fulfill service requests promptly, minimizing business impact. Liaise with other IT resources and outside vendors for problem resolution. (~25%) - Facilitate remote office adds, moves, and changes, including equipment procurement, vendor management, and onsite or remote support during deployments. (~20%) - Participate and lead key projects and initiatives. Implement new platforms as requested to support business need. (~15%) Non-Essential Duties: Performs other duties as assigned. |

Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to provide hands on Tier III configuration and support of network and voice environments.

- Ability to travel as required (10%).
Knowledge of:
-In depth knowledge and proficiency in Cisco route/switch/firewalls/voice, Meraki, wireless, Microsoft Azure, Teams, and virtual machines (VMware, Hyper-V, Azure).
- In depth knowledge of WAN topologies (MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, IPSEC).
- In depth knowledge and proficiency in managing circuit providers and other associate vendors.
- In depth knowledge and proficiency in network architecture and roles, data communications, on-site technical support, network security management, and remote access services.
- In depth knowledge and proficiency in network equipment redundancy and failover methodologies.
- In depth knowledge and proficiency in network monitoring including Microsoft Azure.
- In depth knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Visio.
- Current on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Server Architecture in medium to large enterprises.
- Internet and cloud based technologies.
- IT Security principles.
Minimum Education and Certification:
- Associates degree in MIS, IT, or other related discipline. Bachelor degree preferred.
Minimum Experience:
7 years of experience in the following:
- Tier III hands on technical support of network and voice systems.
- Corporate network design and implementation.
- Cisco route/switch/firewalls/voice, Meraki, wireless, Microsoft Azure, Teams and virtual machines (VMware, Hyper-V, Azure).
- WAN topologies (MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, IPSEC).
- Remote access service configuration and support.
- Network monitoring tools.
- Network security protocols.
- Vendor management including cabling, data, and voice carriers.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Problem Solving and Innovation:
- Works closely with business partners and SMEs to ensure solution sets fit into the overall corporate IT direction and current systems.
- Assimilates and evaluates data from multiple sources determining the optimum solution based on requirements.
- Deals with complex technical issues through own experience or research.
- Works with little or no supervision.

- System stability and performance improvements across Archrock.
- Critical component of large scale enterprise technology solutions.
