Laborer (Recycler) Leader

Legislative Branch

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, House Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent, Client Services Division, Labor and Custodial Branch.

We are seeking an efficient Laborer (Recycler) working leader to provide work instructions to other employees and perform the same type of work that is being led.

A valid state driver's license is required.

Location

1 vacancy in the following location :

  • Duties
  • Serve as a working leader of three (3) or more employees in accomplishing day custodial / laborer / recycling or special events work.
  • Pass instructions on to other workers received from supervisor by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led.
  • Ensure that needed plans, materials, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
  • Check employees work in progress and when finished.
  • Provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems.
  • Demonstrate proper work methods and answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., work orders).
  • Perform laborer work, including loading and unloading trucks, and using various moving equipment and devices including fork lifts, hand and power lifts, and pallet jacks, and carts for construction debris.
  • Load recyclable materials into designated vehicles including recycle truck, trash removal truck, stake-bed truck, dump truck, pick-up truck, and van truck.
  • Clean interior and exterior areas assigned and ensure that floors and hallways are washed and buffed; that tables, dressers, desks, radiators, light fixtures, fans, refrigerators, and other furnishings are maintained, dusted and cleaned.
  • Ensure that rest rooms are cleaned and supplied with towels and toilet paper; that ashtrays and trash containers are emptied, and that windows and mirrors are washed.

Reports any shortages of supplies or cleaning equipment.

  • Remove and perform furniture or equipment relocation and set-up for special events. Arrange chairs and tables in required configurations for special events and ceremonies.
  • The incumbent is required to perform the same type of duties as the employees being led.
  • Tour of duty will range from 7 : 00 a.m. - 6 : 00 p.m. Hours may change depending on operational needs of management.
