Applied Composites (AC) is seeking an Operations Manager who leads the day-to-day production floor to achieve business objectives for Applied Composites’ customers, while aligning tasks with company policies and procedures. This role is accountable to provide structure and accountability to multiple departments, ensure processes are accurate and followed, and performance aligns to the company strategy.

Job Accountabilities:

• Responsible to ensure operations are meeting and/or beating schedule requirements.
• Will lead and ensure team members are actively participating in daily communication meetings.
• Must proactively plan and plan staffing to support schedule adherence.
• Implement lean principles that drive a continuous improvement culture.
• Oversee department KPI’s that contribute to business objectives.
• Focus on process control that builds a compliance mindset in their area.
• Must manage and oversee overtime requirement to support on time delivery.

• Manage staff selection; interviewing, selection of qualified candidates, training and staff development to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
• Responsible for hiring and terminating subordinate employees (or effectively recommending such decisions). Handling employee complaints and grievances; coaching, counseling, and corrective or disciplinary actions; assigning work among employees; and providing for the safety and security of employees.
• Provide coaching and mentoring for career development and advancement of team members. Act as a facilitator and educator to the engineering staff to foster cross-training, creativity, teamwork and smooth process flow. Assist staff with their developmental plans and provides support as needed to accomplish goals.
• Directing employees’ work and establishing and adjusting hours of work as needed, maintaining staffing levels to ensure sufficient capacity to rapidly changing demand.

Job Specifications:

• Composite experience preferred.
• Experience in managing 100 employees in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven success in continuous improvement and KPI performance
• Mechanical ability to work with tools and repairs preferred.
• Must show ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  Education: Post-Secondary degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation
  Years’ Experience: 7-10 years of relevant experience
  Skills:

• Solid experience in production engineering, production management, or related activity
• Experience with and advanced training in Lean manufacturing concepts and techniques with significant exposure to kanban managed supply chain
• Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications
• Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational problems
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Computer proficient, including Microsoft Windows software application
