Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking Structural Design Engineers with primary aircraft structural design experience to join our team in Melbourne, FL .

Job summary: The Structural Design Engineer utilizes the NX-Teamcenter tool suite in the design or leadership of a design team in the development of primary and secondary aircraft structural parts, assemblies, and installations using metallic and/or composite materials for new aircraft design and/or modifications to existing aircraft. Engineers work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to independently prepare and/or lead the preparation of engineering design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages.
This role can be filled as a Principal (level 3) or Senior Principal Engineer (level 4) based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Engineer : Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience
Sr Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 9 years of related experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related experience
Background in primary aircraft structural design
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) clearances
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
Experience designing composite aircraft structures
Proficiency with NX Solid Modelling
Proficiency with Teamcenter
