Apex Service Partners is Hiring a Remote Regional Talent Acquisition Manager

Overview

This is a spectacular opportunity to join a stable, recession-resistant PE backed company and partner with senior leaders to help create and lead the organization’s people and talent function in many ways from the ground up. Apex Service Partners, is rapidly growing and needs an experienced Talent Acquisition professional who can bring proven, scalable processes, selection and sourcing ability, and a passion for creating enduring company cultures in an industry many overlook – the Skilled Trades. This Talent Acquisition professional will help refine and implement a Best Practices Playbook, including sourcing and interview processes, ATS adoption and usage, and implementation of efficient reporting and measures. The right business partner will understand what a best-in-class, professional organization looks like and is interested in working in building that in a very hands-on and rewarding environment.

Job Overview

The Regional Talent Acquisition Manager is the first point of contact for the Regional President, and VP of Ops in the California Region. They will drive production of the recruiting sales force, hold their own req load and develop talent strategy for the Region and local Market Areas. This is a working manager role with fantastic growth opportunities as the Region expands and the function of talent acquisition matures across the organization. The right person will help drive our CEO’s vision to be a true employer of choice, and build that from simple, scalable solutions.

The TA Manager must have superior organization and communication skills, be competitive and passionate, be scrappy and hardworking, and enjoy making a difference and creating something that has not been done before, in professions that literally built our country and are, ironically, overlooked by many (until now!)

Key Job Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Regional President and Vice President of Talent Acquisition, working very closely with our regional senior leaders, the Regional TA Manager will impact:

  • (80%) Sourcing: Develop and lead all California & Hawaii sourcing for Technician & key hires
    • Establish and upgrade recruiting and hiring practices
    • Build a system capable of hiring hundreds annually
    • Measure and improve ROI and reporting by source channel, aligned with investments
    • Inform plans for industry relevant talent attraction and technician engagement
    • Develop diversity recruiting plans focused on outcomes
  • (20%) Leadership: Provide recruiting leadership and impact the business culture and numbers
    • Maintain culture of performance accountability through reporting and scorecards
    • Develop outstanding relationships with key leaders
    • Teach, train and develop our people to have a culture of selecting industry leading people
    • Lead Regional adoption and influence national optimization of our ATS/CRM
    • Uncover new talent pools and attraction strategies for continuous, scalable growth

Candidate Requirements

A successful candidate will have the following criteria & competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • 4-6 years of prior recruiting experience; experience outside of HR is preferred
  • Previous supervisory, management or mentorship experience
  • Highly motivated, comfortable working independently
  • Excellent skills developing and managing metrics,
  • Strong ability to communicate and differentiate our employers from others
  • Strong experience in building, then driving process
  • Intensely hands on & scrappy, but able to see the strategic vision of quintupling our business and being best in the industry
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

The position will be remote, based in Southern California. TRAVEL: The TA Manager will travel to our partner sites in California and Hawaii 20% of the time and join the national Talent Acquisition leadership team for annual on-site meetings.

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this opportunity ranges from $110,000-$125,000 plus a 20% bonus target based on experience. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. We provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO). A candidate’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions. Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate for this position. It assumes a rate based on location and experience.

Apex focuses on serving the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical needs of homeowners in over forty states across the country. Apex has grown to 100 locations with 9,000 team members and $2 billion in annual revenue.

In this fragmented industry dominated by small and founder-owned businesses, the Company has a dual strategy of growing via high-frequency acquisitions (over 200 closed by the Company to date) and aggressive organic growth initiatives, including sophisticated marketing, differentiated talent acquisition and green-fielding new trades and locations. From the onset, the Company’s leaders have focused on building out a robust internal infrastructure to ensure scalability and better win in local markets around the country with the strongest brands and tactics. The team at “Partner Services”, the centralized support team for the Company, comprises 60 hard-working, collegial team members who are focused on the success of operations across the country. Despite being the largest player in this incredible industry, Apex has less than 2% market share, and ~85% of the market is still fragmented. The Company recently received a new round of equity investment totaling $3.4B and recently closed a debt refinance in excess of $3.0B.
