Oncology Veterinary Technician Compensation - $22-$26/hr. At VCA Animal Diagnostic Clinic-Dallas, we are looking for our next Oncology veterinary technician. Our Oncology department consists of 4 board-certified Medical Oncologists, and 1 Radiation Oncologist, a Radiation Therapist, a Dosimetrist, and 10 Veterinary Technicians. With your knowledge, skills, and experience in veterinary medicine, you will have the opportunity to join our team as we lead the way in clinical trials, radiation therapy, and novel cancer therapies. A Veterinary Technician at Animal Diagnostic Clinic includes: Work cohesively with hospital management and supervisory teams to aid in the progression of the hospital Assist attending veterinarian with physical exams, routine procedures, tissue sample acquisition and processing, medication dispensing, surgical preparation and post-operative discharge Anesthesia monitoring for procedures, radiation therapy, and CT scans; troubleshooting and maintenance of anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment Client relations and appointment schedule management: initial consultation appointments, recheck appointments, surgical discharge, and daily client communication Handling, administrating, and disposing of hazardous drugs (chemotherapy) Compassionate nursing care for all hospital patients Housekeeping and maintenance of hospital areas. Preliminary thorough technician physical examinations Maintain detailed and legible medical records Knowledge and application of proper radiograph positioning and acquisition, including safety requirements and PPE Acquisition and processing of laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and tissue samples Filling and dispensing medications under veterinarian’s supervision Strongly encourage participation in clinical trials in accordance to GCP (good clinical practice) guidelines Qualifications for Veterinary Technician: High School Diploma Licensed Veterinary Technician- CVT, LVT, RVT (preferred) 2 years of clinical experience Passion for Veterinary Medicine Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Professional personal appearance Ability to multitask, prioritize, and complete medical and administrative tasks Read and respond to all communication in a timely manner Must be positive, motivated, dependable, and team oriented Physical Requirements: Any allergies to animals must be controllable through medication. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions. This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day. Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions. Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone. Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing hospital equipment such as electric clippers, syringes, radiology equipment, laboratory equipment, computers, etc. The Benefits Continue to Grow!
