Application Question(s):

• 10 yr old feline patient with suspected UTI. You obtain more history and discover that inappropriate urination around the home is what led client to believe it's a UTI. When reviewing the treatment plan, client questions the necessity of obtaining a urine sample, urinalysis, culture and radiograph instead of simply "trying a course of meds". Please provide your reply and explain the options for obtaining the sample and your explanation for the necessity of the items on the treatment plan and reasoning.
• Highly anxious shepherd mix is requesting a same-day sick visit. Medical record notes mention pre-visit pharmaceuticals may be necessary for future visits. Owner says pet is having diarrhea and needs to get him in right away. What information do you need, what type of discussion do you have with owner at this point, and how do you handle it?
