Overview

The role of the Underwriting Assistant is to provide administrative and underwriting support to multiple underwriters on our renewal team such as monitoring underwriting tasks in our system, completing endorsements within assigned authority, assigning work out to appropriate contact in departments, and handling smaller renewals for multiple lines of business.

The candidate will need to maintain a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

Works closely with underwriters in handling policy requests and renewals.

• Follows underwriting guidelines, state regulation, and general procedures while handling assigned renewal policies.
• Maintains ownership of tasks assigned and provides acceptable service standards when processing and assigning tasks.
• Provides agency support by answering general questions, providing endorsement status, cancellation status, billing inquires, etc.

Assists with a variety of administrative tasks and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred
• Previous experience in an administrative, underwriting, or assistant role within Property / Casualty industry is preferred but not required
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Able to handle task to completion with limited direction
• Proven team player and energetic personality
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet productivity deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Property, General Liability, Auto, Excess, or Workers' compensation experience desired
• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented with a desire to learn
