brooklyn-born salon raised: where creativity culture are a way of life. we’re a collective of creatives, hairstylists, chemists, product enthusiasts that like to bend the rules. 

we created 11 collections for every hair type, texture style - all hair is welcome.

the job: 

We’re looking for a project management intern to join our retail education and events team in a project management capacity. You’ll have the opportunity to work cross functionally on the retail education side of amika’s business!

location: Brooklyn, NY (hybrid/remote work)salary: $16 per hour

what you’ll do:

  • assisting channel leaders with field shipments
  • coordinating of event collateral
  • Assisting in execution of educational programs retail events
  • helping to keep projects on track with creative briefing
  • update retail sales, events dashboard trackers 
  • support the roles of the field team members. 

must-haves:

  • Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to manage and coordinate field shipments, event collateral, and project timelines effectively.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with project management software e.g., Asana and Microsoft Office Suite to manage projects and communicate effectively. 
  • Project Management Abilities: Basic knowledge of project management principles to support and keep various projects on track.
  • Effective Communication: Proficient in communicating with channel leaders, field team members, and potentially with external partners to coordinate efforts smoothly.
  • Attention to Detail: Capability to manage details in tracking updates for retail sales, events, and dashboard trackers without oversight.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate and address issues before they become problems, especially in the logistics and coordination of materials and information.
  • Interest in Retail / Beauty industry and Education: A genuine interest in the intersection of retail, education, and event management to understand and contribute to the project's objectives.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities can shift rapidly.

nice to haves:

  • Experience in Retail / Beauty or Education: Previous experience, even at a volunteer level, in retail, education, or event planning would be beneficial.
  • Creative Briefing Experience: Some experience or understanding of the creative briefing process to support communication with the creative team effectively.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze retail sales data and event outcomes to contribute insights for future strategy adjustments.
  • Interest in Beauty Industry: A passion for or interest in the beauty industry, particularly in hair care, could enhance the candidate's engagement and contribution to the project.
  • Networking Skills: Eagerness to engage with key players across Amika and retailers, which would be beneficial for personal growth and professional development.
